A Few Pictures

So I'm really bad about downloading pictures from my camera so here are some random ones from the last couple of weeks.

Cade putting in our new dishwasher....yes we bought a dishwasher. I love not having to wash dishes anymore.

We gave Missy a bath after she peed on herself in her "cage" on our drive home from Holden. She looked so tiny all wet. She didn't much like the water though.

I got a perm and I'm loving how fast I can style it. Just get out of the shower, scrunch it with mousse and go. This picture is just before we went to the first of many theatre performances.

Cory finally got a second layer to stay up....for about a second; just long enough for me to snap the picture. Cade did one almost as good, too but I didn't get a picture of it. Sorry Cade.

School report

School is going well so far this year. Cade is taking an Arts Symposium class which requires he attend 20 different fine arts performances. Since he doesn't want to go alone we get me tickets too and make it a date night. So just about every Friday and some Saturdays we get to go on a "required" date. The first one we went to was the Hot Club of San Francisco. It was a group that played gypsie jazz music to old silent films. There are so many fun things we get to see this semester and I'm so excited for almost all of them although some look a little lame from the descriptions. Cade is also taking some other general ed classes like English and Math and is still trying to decide if he should switch majors or not. Right now his major is Ag Communications & Journalism with and emphasis in Public Relations. He hasn't really enjoyed his journalism classes though and is considering changing to Ag Technical Systems (I can't remember the exact title of the major) and get an emphasis in business. Then he could be a diesel mechanic and also have a background in business. Luckily most of his credits will transfer to the other major since they are both Ag degrees and in the same department even.

I am in the home stretch of school now. I start 2 new classes next week (our classes are 4 weeks long each and we only have 1 or 2 at a time). Then I have 3 more classes plus a CNA course and then my Pharmacy Tech externship and I'll be completely done. When I'm done I'll have an associate's degree in Medical Specialties and I can choose various areas to certify in. I'm choosing Pharmacy Tech, CNA, and medical coding/billing (I don't technically have to certify to work in this area though). I'm so excited to be done. My externship should be finished mid July.

just makes me angry

I recently found out about a piece of legislation that Obama plans to sign the minute he is officially in office. It's called the Freedom of Choice Act. What this act does is to make all forms of abortion legal nationwide. Individual states no longer have a choice on the matter. From what I understand, abortions will be able to be performed at any time during the pregnancy. Also, live born babies with problems from a failed abortion can be left to die with no medical treatment at all. Not only this, but it forces doctors and nurses to go through with an abortion whether they want to or not. Even Christian-based facilities must abide by this law which goes against every fiber of their beliefs.


It's amazing to me how many years ago murder was defined as the shedding of innocent blood. Well either that definition has changed or unborn babies are no longer considered innocent. The very idea of this law being passed makes me furious and sick to my stomach. It's cruel, selfish, and inhumane. "Freedom of Choice" they call it.......well what about the choice of that innocent baby? If you feel the same way you can go to http://www.fightfoca.com/ to sign a petition that just might make Congress think twice about passing this new Act.

Poor 'lil Putty Tat

Last week we finally took Missy in to get fixed. (yes, my kitty is named after me....Cade says it's perfect because we both have an attitude) When I brought her home from the vet she was really groggy and walked around like she was drunk. She could jump up onto anything, but kept trying to so we made her sleep in her pet carrier (or as Cade calls it: her cage) so she wouldn't hurt herself in the night trying to jump on our bed to sleep with us. She seemed to be doing better within the next couple of days, but on Friday her incision started to look a little infected. We decided to watch it and see if it got better. Well as soon as the vet's office was closed for the weekend we noticed it getting lots worse. By Sunday it was so infected it looked like it was eating a hole in her stomach. So Monday we took her back to the vet and he gave us an antibiotic to give her and an E-collar that she has to wear so she can't lick her incision anymore. She hates that collar and is constantly trying to back out of it or rip it off with her paws. She hates taking the medicine even more and we have to just force it into her throat. Poor thing. She's doing much better now though and I think she'll be healed in a few more days. Here are some pictures of her wearing her new favorite collar.

She hid under the couch from us for a while....I think she was pretty mad that she had to wear that thing.

After a while she seemed to forgive us and every so often she gives up on getting it off and will relax, but then she'll start her little fit again and go crazy trying to get out of it. Doesn't she look so sad?

Christmas didn't end in December

So after New Year's Cade bought me a late Christmas present. Mostly I think he was finding a way to get me to bake more goodies. Our old stove/oven was a really old green 1970s model and just didn't work well. The stove top was fine, but the oven didn't heat evenly and took forever to preheat (and we weren't ever really sure it was at the temperture it said it was). So we bought a new one. I love it. It's a gas stove and the oven is wonderful. So far I've baked cookies and German pancakes and they've both turned out great. When I baked in my old oven parts of whatever I baked would be burnt and other parts would still be doughy. Needless to say I didn't bake much, but now I can and I'm so excited because I love to bake. Here's some pictures of the process of putting it in....which is a whole other story and adventure. We thought we could have a repairman install it for us, but because of the way the old stove was piped, he wasn't licensed to touch it. Luckily he knew how to go about doing it and gave Cade his advice then Cade installed by himself.

Here's Cade pulling the old gas pipe out of the old stove. Usually stove has a flexible line going from the stove to a valve in the wall, but our old one was hard piped directly from the wall to the stove....it was crazy. And we had to buy new tools for Cade so he could get it out. He loves any excuse to buy new tools.

Next he had to put a valve at the bottom of this pipe...after we took that pipe off.

Computer Virus

If you have Facebook or Myspace and if I have your email address you've probably seen this. I want to get the word out to everyone I can. And spread the word to people you know about this virus. It's tricky and seems like an innocent thing and even something you want to download to help your computer, but it's a bad virus. So keep reading if you haven't read my warning already.

I got a virus on my laptop and now it has to be wiped clean and I'm losing everything that is saved on it; so I wanted to tell everyone about the virus and how to avoid it. It usually pops up while you are on the Internet. I even had my pop up blocker on and it still came up so beware. It says it's an Anti-Spyware or Anti-Viral software and probably will tell you that your computer is infected with various viruses (which it most likely isn't infected at all) and spyware and that you must download this software to get rid of it. Wells this sounds great to get a free anti-viral software download. The only problem is that as soon as you hit "OK" or "download" or whatever it is, then it gives you a really bad real virus.

I was also told that this virus blocks you from updating your real Anti-virus software that is already installed on your computer. If you get this virus then you try to update your real software it will simply delete all the files and then you will be completely unprotected. This virus also uploaded porn site short cuts to my computer. The IT guy at my work says this is probably one of the worst viruses he's seen. So be careful and don't download any Anti-viral or Anti-spyware stuff from the Internet or from any pop-ups that come up while you are using your computer.
