A Very Merry Christmas

So I will put pictures on here later after I download them from my camera. We had such a great Christmas. We drove to Holden on the 24th to spend some time with Cade's family. It was a new adventure having to split time between his dad's house and his mom's house, but I think we managed to make everyone happy. Cade got a Skilsaw from me and I think he really likes it, too. He also got an airsoft gun (I'm not sure what his mother was thinking buying him that), but he is forbidden to shoot me or our cat. Cade gave me some new clothes and a wonderful heated blanket.

Christmas night we decided to leave for Salina so we could spend the morning of the 26th with my family and leave for Logan earlier. But we got caught right in the middle of the blizzard on our way. It was so scary driving through that and there were times on the freeway that we couldn't see the road at all. At best we could see a few feet in front of us. So we made it so Scipio and decided not to go any farther. We called a guy in the Bishopric to see if he could open the church for us to stay in, but he told us we could stay at his house for the night. Then we got a call from Cade's dad saying his new step-sister Brooke and her 2-year-old daughter had slid off the road right outside Scipio and needed help. Luckily the man we were staying with has a 4 wheel drive Dodge diesel truck so he offered to take Cade and go get the girls. Needless to say, it was a good thing we had stayed in Scipio or they would have been stranded.

Friday morning we drove to Salina to spend the day with my family. I was so glad to see the little kids. We gave Jaylee and Kinley a doctor's kit and we gave Rance a dump truck. They were so cute telling me how Santa came to their house and left presents for them. We had to cut the day a little short because of the weather so we could get home again. The drive home was clear, but icy all over. And we came home to lots of snow in Logan. We had to dig out the drive-way before we could pull the car in. We had probably just over a foot of fresh snow in the driveway; the end of the driveway had even more because of the piles pushed up by the snow plows. It is warming up today, but we've heard more snow is coming tomorrow and on New Year's Day. Hopefully we'll make it through the winter and come spring time we'll have more water than we'll know what to do with.

Let It Snow

Well up here in Cache Valley it just keeps snowing and snowing and snowing. It started snowing Friday morning as we were leaving for Pleasant Grove for Cade's Dad's wedding. The wedding started at 5:30pm so we left Logan at 11am thinking it would give us plenty of time to get there (Pleasant Grove from Logan is normally about a 2 hour drive)....after driving through a snowy canyon and having our car break down in Brigham City, we barely made it to the wedding at all. But the wedding was nice and we got to spend time with the rest of Cade's family that night and Saturday. Saturday we went to Makinzie's drill team competition and they did amazing; I'm so proud to have her as a sister-in-law. The drive home presented some interesting times, too. Just before Brigham City we passed a 31 car accident that resulted in the south-bound freeway to be closed for 2 and 1/2 hours.

Needless to say, it was an eventful weekend...oh by the way our car is fixed and as good as new. I think we are finally done Christmas shopping; now we just need to finish wrapping the gifts. Cade still hasn't found his present from me nor has he come close to guessing what it is, so I am doing good with that. We are so excited to go home to see both our families for Christmas. Hopefully the weather will let up a bit for our travels. And we hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!

Christmas Tag

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? I really like to wrap, but some gifts are oddly shaped and work better in a bag
2. Real tree or artificial? I prefer real trees for their wonderful pine scent, but this year we couldn't cut a tree with my family and buying real trees are too expensive so we have a tiny little fake tree.... :( I made myself feel better by buying a pine scented candle :)
3. When do you put your tree up? The weekend after Thanksgiving...
4. When do you take your tree down? around New Year's Day
5. Do you like eggnog? not really....but I do like my Uncle Von's homemade Buffalo Milk which is similar
6. Favorite gift recieved? I think the cedar chest my dad made me one year (well technically it's oak not cedar)
7. Hardest person to buy for? Well yesterday Cade and I discovered we have no idea what to get his little brother....we know he'd loved a gameboy game, but we'd rather get him something to do outside....but he's not coordinated enough for rollar blades and we're not sure we can trust him with a BB gun or sling shot
8. Easiest person to buy for? my nieces and nephew....the girls love dolls and anything to play "pretend" and Rance loves cars and trucks
9. Do you have a nativity scene? yes....it's the Willow Tree set and I love it....but I need to get more pieces for it
10. Mail or E-mail christmas cards? Mail....if you don't receive one from me it's probably because I don't have your address so I'm sorry
11. Worst Christmas present ever recieved? well in like 7th grade my "stalker" left a gift full of stick-on plastic earrings and a crumbled cupcake on my doorstep...
12. Favorite/worst Christmas movie? I love just about every Christmas movie ever made....especially the old classic cartoons
13. When do you start shopping? well I refuse to shop on Black Friday....people are too crazy that day so I usually wait until after that or sometimes before if I find something I have to get for someone
14. Have you ever recycled a gift? not for Christmas....
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas time? fresh warm homemade Cinnamon rolls from my Mom's oven
16. Lights on tree? this year they are white, but sometimes I use colored ones
17. Favorite Christmas song? That's a tough one....probably one from the Forgotten Carols or the Dalton's Brother's Christmas CD
18. Travel on Christmas or stay at home? well this year we are traveling so we can be with our family at home....as long as I'm with family I don't really care where I am for Christmas
19. Can you name all of santa's reindeer? I think so....yep I can
20. Angel on top of tree or star? Angel.....I have a deep love for Angels of any kind at any time of the year really
21. Open presents on Christmas eve? yes...in my family we always opened gifts from family and friends after desert on Christmas Even....then we would focus on Santa's present Christmas morning
22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? people trying to get rid of the phrase "Merry Christmas" and change it to just "Happy Holidays" People forget that Christmas is a Christian holiday and is based around Christ's birth.....
23. Favorite ornament? my angel ones....including the clear ball with my Grandpa Grant's picture inside
24. Favorite food for Christmas dinner? Growing up my dad always made Steak and shrimp....and we always froze balls of tropical punch Kool Aid to put in our Sprite
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? well after Cade made me sit and seriously think to give him ideas....I decided clothes or an automatic hot chocolate maker would be good

Excited for the Holidays

Cade is officially done with school until January. I have one more week of school here at Stevens Henager. We are getting so excited for the next couple of weeks, which should be filled with lots of events and excitement. This weekend Cade's Dad is getting married. So visiting for Christmas will mean getting to know a new step-mom and some step-siblings. Cindy (the step-mom) has four daughters (I'm guessing on ages, but I think they are about 24, 22, 19, and 9) and one son who is a junior in high school. We will also get to see Makinzie dance in a drill team competition this Saturday. She is an amazing dancer and we love to watch her perform.We get to go home for Christmas for three whole days since Cade got lots of days off work. I'm so excited to be able to spend a little bit of Christmas with both our families. Jaylee, Kinley, and Rance are so fun to watch on Christmas morning and they are all so excited for Santa to come.
Hopefully we will get our little kitty fixed soon, too. Her name is Missy and we love having her around our house. She likes to play with Cade and sleep on the end of our bed (or sometimes right in between us or even on us).
We are really looking forward to a break from school and work...It will be full of fun and family, but I'm afraid it will end all too soon and we'll be back to school before we know it. We hope everyone enjoys the Holiday break and has a Merry Christmas.

Vegas Trip & NFR

So Cade and I were given tickets to the National Finals Rodeo from my sister-in-law Selanie. It was kind of a spur of the moment trip, but we had so much fun. We couldn't stay in any of the fancy casino hotels since neither of us are 21 so we found a good deal on a motel just a couple miles away from the main Strip. We went to the rodeo Friday night and toured the Strip all day Saturday. Sadly I forgot to take my camera to the rodeo so I don't have any pictures of that. But I do have pictures of most of what we did on Saturday. We walked probably at least 15 miles that day and tried to see as much as possible, but there was still so much more we didn't see. It was so nice to spend a few days in the warmth of Vegas before returning to a snowy and frigid Logan. Anyways, here are some pictures from our trip.

Cade loved seeing all these classic cars....it's supposedly the world's biggest collection of classic cars. We spent nearly 2 hours looking at old cars.....

Since there weren't any really cool Mustangs, I picked this old Corvette as my favorite car.

well here goes....

So I made a blog....It's supposed to be about Cade and me, but Cade hardly ever gets on the Internet for any reason so basically I will be the one posting every thing. But maybe I will be able to teach him how to use it too. I really wonder how many people will actually read this...For those of you who do, thanks for wanting to keep in touch and I will try to do the same.

Just a little background on Cade and I.....we met the end of our Junior year of high school on a school trip to Valley Forge Pennsylvania. We became instant friends and started to hang out every weekend after our trip. After a few weeks we decided we were officially dating and the love just kept on growing. I knew without a doubt we would end up together after I had a 4-wheeler accident and he was the only thing I could think about. He saved my life and didn't want to leave my side. Cade proposed on my 18th birthday and we got married July 21, 2007; then we were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti LDS Temple on July 22, 2008. Currently we are still living happily in Logan. A few more years of school up here then we will move to Holden to build our dream home and raise a family.
